Overview
- Rail traffic between Firenze Rifredi and Firenze Campo di Marte will be suspended from 3 p.m. Jan. 24 to 3 p.m. Jan. 25 to replace the Ponte al Pino overpass and renew switches at Santa Maria Novella.
- RFI has cut scheduled trains by 50% and will ensure one high‑speed train per hour in each direction, with additional hourly departures originating from Rifredi toward Milan and from Campo di Marte toward Rome.
- Passengers will transfer between the two Florence stations on 18 substitute buses shared by Trenitalia and Italo, with six reserves, and the ride is planned to take about 40–45 minutes.
- High‑speed services will run with reduced capacity and capped ticket sales, while some long‑distance trains will divert via the older Tirrenica line, adding at least an hour and in some cases up to two hours; revised times are already in sales systems.
- Intercity and overnight Intercity trains will use alternative routes or altered timetables, including a bus link between Prato Centrale and Firenze Rovezzano for the Trieste–Rome service, and some regional trains will terminate at Rifredi or Campo di Marte with an FS shuttle operating during the interruption.
