Flames Sign Brennan Othmann to One-Year Two-Way Deal

The deal gives Calgary a low-risk way to evaluate Othmann in training camp while preserving the option to develop him in the AHL.

  • Calgary announced the signing Friday of 23-year-old winger Brennan Othmann to a one-year, two-way contract that carries a $975,000 NHL salary for 2026-27.
  • The Flames acquired Othmann from the New York Rangers at the March 6 trade deadline in exchange for prospect Jacob Battaglia and finished last season with him appearing in two Flames games, recording a goal and an assist.
  • Othmann has been a strong AHL scorer with 41 goals and 85 points in 120 games for Hartford but has produced only three NHL points in 42 games, which explains the club’s cautious two-way approach.
  • Being a two-way contract means Othmann will earn different pay at the NHL and AHL levels and that Calgary can send him to its AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, if he does not earn a roster spot in camp.
