Five-Year-Old Girl Dies After A59 Crash Near Gisburn

Lancashire Police have opened an early-stage serious collision inquiry that is seeking witnesses and dashcam footage.

  • A westbound Skoda Karoq and a Volkswagen Golf R collided on the A59 near the junctions of Crow Park Lane and Strawberry Fields on Thursday May 21, causing multiple serious injuries.
  • Lancashire Police confirmed that a five-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Skoda died in hospital on Tuesday May 26.
  • Three other people remain in hospital: the Skoda driver, a woman in her 60s; a five-year-old boy; and the Golf driver, a man in his 20s who is being treated as a witness.
  • The force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit has logged the case as incident 0986 of May 21 and is asking anyone with dashcam footage or witness information to email sciu@lancashire.police.uk or call 101.
  • Police say the inquiry is at an early stage, they have asked the public not to speculate, and the deceased girl’s family are being supported by trained family liaison officers.
