- The federation will assign women as umpires at this summer's 108th National High School Baseball Championship at Koshien, Japan's premier high school baseball stage.
- Five will take the field under a decision by the tournament's operations committee in Osaka.
- This is the first time women will officiate at a spring or summer Koshien tournament.
- Women had already worked prefectural games and joined a May exchange match at Koshien last year.
- The federation also ran a training workshop for female umpires at Hanshin Koshien Stadium last summer, and about 20 were registered nationwide then.
