Overview
- Salvamento Marítimo received a VHF call at 04:47 reporting a collision about 1.6 miles west of Cabo Prioriño near Ferrol.
- The steel-hulled Cruceiro de Pazos recovered two sailors from the Peruca and gathered debris including four lifebuoys, a life raft and the Peruca’s radiobeacon, which was deactivated.
- After the rescue, the Cruceiro de Pazos disembarked the mariners at the port of Lorbé before returning to its base in Sada.
- The skipper of the Cruceiro de Pazos reported no relevant damage to his vessel that would affect navigation.
- Peruca’s skipper later recounted being struck on the port side and said the boat went under almost immediately.
