Overview
- The First Presidency, joined by the Presiding Bishopric and spouses, toured the Salt Lake Temple Friday and reviewed both finished rooms and active work areas.
- President Dallin H. Oaks said the visit helped his recovery after an April 15 hip replacement, and he has continued working from his downtown office.
- A new Temple Square Visitors’ Center opens May 18 with an “Inside a Temple” walk-through that uses replica rooms to explain Latter-day Saint temple worship.
- Initial reservations for the new tour filled quickly, and more will be released June 1 with additional openings added every other Monday.
- The temple has been closed since Dec. 29, 2019 for seismic strengthening, preservation of historic craftsmanship, and increased capacity, with a public open house set for April through October 2027.
