Finnair Orders Up to 46 Embraer E195‑E2s, Plans Used Airbus A320/A321ceos for Fleet Refresh

Deliveries start in 2027 under a plan to deploy 134-seat E195‑E2s via NoRRA with Pratt & Whitney support.

Overview

  • Agreement covers 18 firm E195‑E2s plus 16 options and 12 purchase rights, described by the CEO as one of Finnair’s largest investments.
  • Finnair will source up to 12 second‑hand A320/A321ceos to replace its oldest A319/A320s, with exact numbers and timing to be determined.
  • E195‑E2 deliveries are scheduled as three in 2027, six in 2028, six in 2029, with the remaining firm jets arriving later.
  • The new jets will be operated by partner NoRRA in a 134‑seat layout, upgauging from today’s 100‑seat E190s to strengthen regional feed to Helsinki.
  • Finnair signed PW1900G spare engine and maintenance deals with Pratt & Whitney, and says the E195‑E2 will cut CO2 emissions by about 30% per passenger.
