Finnair Orders Up to 46 Embraer E195-E2 Jets in European Fleet Shake-Up

The deal signals a pivot to right-sized regional jets for faster renewal with lower emissions.

Overview

  • Finnair, in a Monday agreement, ordered 18 Embraer E195-E2s with 16 options and 12 purchase rights and said it will source up to 12 used Airbus A320/A321ceos.
  • Deliveries start in the third quarter of 2027 with three aircraft, followed by six in 2028 and six in 2029 under the current firm schedule.
  • The E195-E2s will seat 134 passengers and will be operated by Finnair’s regional partner Norra, which flies the airline’s Embraer and ATR routes.
  • Finnair said the E2 will cut its CO2 emissions by about 30% per passenger compared with older jets on similar routes.
  • The agreement includes Pratt & Whitney support for PW1900G engines, and coverage highlighted a shift away from Airbus for short-haul renewal alongside a used-ceo plan to replace the oldest A319 and A320 aircraft.
