Final Fantasy VII Revelation Set for April 8, 2027 With FITS Combat and Playable Cid and Vincent

Square Enix frames the release as the trilogy’s conclusion that also opens paid expansion plans for an evolving Final Fantasy VII.

Overview

  • Square Enix confirmed earlier this week that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Windows PC.
  • At a PAX West panel, director Naoki Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo showed a trilogy recap trailer and detailed new playable party members Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine.
  • Developers explained FITS as an outfit-based role system that changes characters’ movesets and looks, with four specialties — Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner — that reshape combat roles.
  • The company announced a paid two-part Story Expansion Pass slated for post-launch windows reported between winter 2027 and spring 2028 and warned that physical copies may require large post-install downloads.
  • Square Enix urged fans not to seek spoilers so players can experience the ending themselves, said the team used the film Advent Children as a visual benchmark, and signaled plans to grow FF7 into an 'ever-evolving' franchise.
