Final Fantasy VII Revelation Confirmed for April 8, 2027 With New FITS Job System

Square Enix says the final remake entry will close the trilogy while positioning the FF7 universe for future projects.

Overview

  • Square Enix confirmed at PAX West that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Developers detailed the FITS system, an outfit-based job mechanic with four roles — Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner — that change a character’s combat traits and abilities.
  • Naoki Hamaguchi and the team said once FITS is unlocked every party member can access all four jobs from the start, and players can choose cosmetic outfit skins independently of chosen FITS roles.
  • The PAX West panel introduced new playable characters including Cid and Vincent, and premiered a trilogy recap trailer while urging players to experience the game’s ending firsthand rather than seek outside explanations.
  • Square Enix framed the remake’s visuals on the 2005 film Advent Children and signaled plans to expand Final Fantasy VII as an evolving franchise beyond the remake trilogy.
