Final Fantasy VII: Revelation Announced as Remake Trilogy Conclusion

Square Enix says Revelation will close the Remake arc by resolving lingering story questions while broadening play with open-world exploration, a FITS customization system, playable Cid and Vincent, and a much larger postgame set for spring 2027.

Overview

  • Square Enix unveiled Final Fantasy VII: Revelation at Summer Game Fest on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, and confirmed it as the final entry in the Remake trilogy.
  • Director Naoki Hamaguchi says the title was kept secret inside the team and that Revelation is meant to reveal unanswered plot threads and provide the trilogy’s definitive ending.
  • The game will let players explore the planet from the start by using Cid’s Highwind airship for seamless air-to-ground travel and access to locations such as Wutai and Rocket Town.
  • New systems include FITS, a fashion-based job system that unlocks all job options at once for character customization, and permanent playable additions of Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine.
  • Square Enix plans a day-one multiplatform release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC in spring 2027, and it is promising a larger endgame with a restored Level 99 cap, optional Weapon superbosses and the Gold Saucer as a central hub, with further DLC left dependent on player demand.
