Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Sets June 3 Multiplatform Launch, With PS5/PC Patch Adding Optional Assists

Square Enix will pair the launch with a free PS5/PC patch that introduces Streamlined Progression assists alongside PC-derived lighting upgrades on PS5.

Overview

  • Square Enix will release Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on June 3, with digital pre-orders live at a 20% discount.
  • Digital Deluxe pre-orders on Switch 2 and Xbox include extra in-game items, and the first Switch 2 physical run includes a Zack Fair Magic: The Gathering card in English.
  • The Streamlined Progression suite offers always-full HP/MP/ATB/Limit/Synergy, 2× EXP and 3× AP, max materia levels, more material drops, easier weapon ability acquisition, and max damage including in minigames.
  • Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the patch timing with the ports and said PS5 will receive the lighting improvements previously added on PC.
  • Early analysis of Switch 2 footage indicates an internal ~720p with reduced textures, foliage and shadows, with performance seen as playable and potentially competitive with Steam Deck.
