Final Defendant in Antioch Police Abuse Case Gets 50 Months

The sentence caps a federal probe that exposed racist violence by officers, prompting Antioch reforms.

Overview

  • Eric Allen Rombough, the last defendant in the federal case, was sentenced Tuesday to 50 months in prison and must report within 45 days.
  • Judge Jeffrey S. White said officers imposed “violence and terror” on the community and imposed a longer term than the 36 months prosecutors recommended.
  • Rombough pleaded guilty in January 2025 to conspiracy against rights and deprivation of rights, then testified against Morteza Amiri and Devon (Christopher) Wenger, who received seven and seven-and-a-half years.
  • Agents who seized officers’ phones in 2021 uncovered racist texts and evidence that Rombough used a 40mm impact-round launcher and kept spent rounds as trophies.
  • With this final sentencing, total prison time for the defendants tops 21 years, and Antioch has agreed to police reforms and a $4.6 million settlement for victims.
