- FIFA’s Bureau of the Council decided on 24 June 2026 to suspend the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) with immediate effect under its statutes for flagrant breaches linked to third‑party interference.
- The suspension strips ANFA of its membership rights and stops Nepal’s national teams and domestic clubs from taking part in any FIFA or Asian Football Confederation competitions.
- ANFA and its officials will lose access to FIFA and AFC funding, development programmes, coaching courses and other institutional support while the ban remains in place.
- FIFA identified Nepal’s National Sports Council as the third party whose prior actions and repeated intervention in ANFA’s electoral process prompted the sanction, after earlier warnings and a temporary NSC suspension of ANFA this year.
- FIFA said the ban can be lifted at any time before the next FIFA Congress if the NSC ends its interference and ANFA is allowed to carry out the approved election, a path to reinstatement that echoes remedies used in past cases such as Congo and Pakistan.
