Overview
- FIFA Collect is issuing two tradable entitlements called a Right-to-Buy (RTB) and a Right-to-Ticket (RTT) on a customized Avalanche Layer‑1 that sits alongside FIFA’s existing ticketing system.
- An RTB gives priority access to buy a specific match ticket; when redeemed it converts to an RTT which is then used to obtain the official match ticket from FIFA’s traditional infrastructure.
- Ava Labs reported more than 100,000 RTBs issued, over 50,000 Club World Cup tickets bundled with RTBs, RTT secondary-market volume above $15 million, and combined RTB/RTT volume exceeding $25 million.
- FIFA and its developers say the interface hides blockchain complexity so fans use familiar Web2 flows while the chain records entitlement transfers to reduce fraud, counterfeit listings and bot-driven buys.
- The experiment lets FIFA capture first‑party fan data and centralize resale inside its ecosystem but introduces an extra tradable layer between buyers and tickets and will be judged on fraud control, user experience and regulatory reaction.
