FIFA Names YouTube Preferred Platform for 2026 World Cup

Talks with German rights-holders could send 15–30 matches to YouTube, with allocations still undecided.

Overview

  • FIFA’s agreement designates YouTube as a key outlet for match clips, selected live streams and wide-ranging archive content for the 2026 tournament in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
  • Media partners are authorized to live stream the first ten minutes of every World Cup match on their YouTube channels.
  • Selected fixtures may be streamed in full on YouTube, with final match selections yet to be confirmed.
  • FIFA will open its digital archive on the official YouTube channel, including full-length classic World Cup matches and other historical material.
  • A curated group of creators will receive access to tournament venues and archives to produce tactical analyses, behind-the-scenes features and human‑interest coverage, while in Germany existing plans keep all 104 matches on MagentaTV with 60 on ARD/ZDF.
