FIFA Fines Malaysia FA and Bans Seven Players Over Falsified Documents

The case now moves to the FIFA Football Tribunal to determine the players’ eligibility.

Overview

  • The Football Association of Malaysia was fined 350,000 Swiss francs, while seven players received 12-month bans and individual fines of about R$13,000.
  • FIFA said the federation submitted altered documentation to register the players, violating Article 22 of the Disciplinary Code on falsification.
  • The sanctions follow a June 10 match in which the players featured in Malaysia’s 4–0 win over Vietnam during 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifying.
  • The Disciplinary Committee referred the eligibility question to the FIFA Football Tribunal for consideration.
  • FAM and the players were notified, have 10 days to request a reasoned decision, and may appeal to FIFA’s Appeals Committee within the set deadlines.
