Fiesta Bowl Launches First Division I Women’s Flag Football Classic at Arizona State in April

Organizers aim to accelerate varsity adoption during the sport’s NCAA Emerging Sports phase.

Overview

  • The Fiesta Sports Foundation will stage the two-day, 7-on-7 showcase April 18–19 at Arizona State’s Tempe campus, presented by Oakley.
  • Eight Division I programs are slated to compete: Alabama State, Arizona State, Charlotte, Florida, Georgia, Grand Canyon, UCF and USC.
  • Day one features three pool-play games per team, followed by a playoff bracket and awards presentation on day two.
  • Teams will receive accommodations, meals, ground transportation, gifts and access to a player hospitality lounge during the event.
  • Organizers bill it as a first-of-its-kind national event for Division I programs, noting most teams are club-level today and citing rapid growth to 2.5 million participants and 150+ NCAA schools with club or varsity teams.
