Fery Named in Great Britain Davis Cup Squad as Draper Is Left Out

The winning nation in the Sept 19–20 Copper Box tie will secure a place in the Davis Cup Final 8 in November.

Overview

  • The Lawn Tennis Association announced on Monday that Arthur Fery, Cameron Norrie, Henry Patten and Lloyd Glasspool will make up Great Britain’s four-man squad for the home qualifier against Ecuador.
  • Arthur Fery earned selection after a breakthrough summer that included a Wimbledon semi-final and a rise to British number one following a 2025 Davis Cup debut in which he beat Olaf Pieczkowski.
  • Jack Draper was not included in the announced quartet because of an injury-hit season, but captain Leon Smith has left a fifth slot open that could be filled if Draper proves fit before the tie.
  • The tie will be played over a maximum of five rubbers — four singles and one doubles — at London’s Copper Box Arena on Sept 19–20 with the winner advancing to the November Final 8.
  • Pairing Henry Patten with Lloyd Glasspool gives Britain a specialist doubles option while the final squad decision and Draper’s fitness could alter the singles order and Britain’s match strategy ahead of the qualifier.
