Overview
- Ferrari has opened a two-day Testing of Previous Cars program at Mugello using last year’s SF-25, with simulator regulars Antonio Giovinazzi, Arthur Leclerc, and Antonio Fuoco handling the driving.
- A separate filming day at Monza later in April will put race drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in the current SF-26 for up to 200 km of running to capture targeted performance data.
- The Monza outing will focus on energy recovery and aero checks, as the circuit’s long straights and few heavy braking zones stress the 2026 hybrid systems and expose drag and efficiency issues.
- Ferrari plans to run its revised “Macarena” rear wing concept during these checks, with an updated version targeted for race use at the Miami Grand Prix on May 3 if validation goes to plan.
- The FIA now allows 2025 cars in TPC because the 2026 machines differ so much from the previous rules, and the five-week April gap followed Bahrain and Saudi Arabia being canceled due to the conflict involving Iran.
