FBI Seeks Rest-Area Footage in Search for Missing Truck Driver After I-95 Stop

Agents say public video could clarify a crucial seven-hour window before the truck later turned up in Georgia without its driver.

Overview

  • The FBI, which renewed its appeal Tuesday, asked anyone at the Grant‑Valkaria I‑95 rest area between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. April 17 to share photos or video.
  • Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez, 41, picked up multiple vehicles at the Port of Brunswick on April 16 and was headed to Miami when he stopped at the Brevard County rest area around 1:21 a.m. April 17.
  • GPS showed the truck leaving at 7:49 a.m., going one exit south, then turning north toward Jacksonville, after which Gonzalez became unreachable.
  • Later on April 17, investigators found the tractor‑trailer in Port Wentworth, Georgia without Gonzalez, and several of the hauled vehicles were missing; three of those cars were later recovered in Florida.
  • Investigators shared identifiers to help locate Gonzalez, describing him as 5'11", about 200 pounds, bald with a brown beard, with a full left‑arm sleeve tattoo and “Elisia” on his right forearm, while experts note auto‑haulers draw thieves because their cargo is visible.
