Overview

  • Investigators confirmed Wednesday that a body found in coastal Georgia is 41-year-old Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez.
  • Gonzalez had picked up cars at the Port of Brunswick on April 16 for delivery to Miami and was last seen early April 17 at the I-95 South rest area in Grant-Valkaria, Florida.
  • GPS data showed the truck move at about 7:49 a.m. April 17, first south one exit, then north toward Jacksonville, after which Gonzalez could not be reached.
  • The tractor-trailer was located later April 17 in Port Wentworth, Georgia without the driver, and several cars were missing; three of those cars have since been found in Florida while others remain unaccounted for.
  • The FBI’s Tampa and Atlanta offices are leading the active investigation, which agents call suspicious, and they are seeking photos or video from the Grant-Valkaria rest area between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. on April 17 as well as tips from the public.
