Overview
- British Transport Police were called at around 3pm and confirmed a person was pronounced dead at Clapham Junction.
- London Ambulance Service said it was called at 2:59pm to a report of a person hit by a train, who died at the scene; London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
- Lines between Vauxhall and Clapham Junction were blocked during the emergency response, with operators later warning of cancellations, diversions and delays of up to 60–120 minutes until late evening.
- Service changes included Shepperton–Waterloo trains diverting via Strawberry Hill and Twickenham, skipping Hampton, Kingston, Norbiton, New Malden, Raynes Park and Wimbledon.
- Some platforms at Clapham Junction were taken out of use and services between Waterloo and Wimbledon/Woking were not calling at Clapham Junction, with photos showing a cordon and a large emergency presence.
