Overview
- Fantasia announced Tuesday its first-wave slate for the July 16–August 2 event, marking a return to Concordia Hall and the J. A. de Sève cinemas in Montréal.
- World premieres include The Last Temptation of Becky, No Rest for the Wicked, Home Bodies, Sour Minnows, Rubberhead: The Life & Monsters of Steve Johnson, Ancestral Beasts and Unholy Night.
- Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s Hot Spot also premieres at the festival, featuring Noomi Rapace and entering the Cheval Noir Competition.
- North American premieres span You Are the Film, The Eyes, Break Free and Kung Fu, alongside additions such as Anymart, Sleep No More and Suzuki=Bakudan.
- The festival is presented by MELS with Concordia and supported by Telefilm Canada, SODEC and Québec and Montréal public funders, and it will roll out the full lineup in stages by early July with screenings, workshops and launch events planned.
