Family Pays Tribute to 15-Year-Old Luis Guembes as Guildford Stabbing Inquiry Continues

Detectives are seeking information under Operation Eastville, with two teenagers remanded ahead of a 23 February Crown Court hearing.

Overview

  • In a statement released via Surrey Police, the family thanked bystanders who comforted Luis, as well as paramedics, his school and his football club.
  • Luis, a talented footballer originally from Peru, attended All Hallows Catholic School and played for Churt Juniors FC under-16s.
  • He was stabbed in woodland off Lido Road in Stoke Park shortly after 6pm on 19 January and was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by police, paramedics and leisure-centre staff.
  • A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old have been charged with murder, conspiracy to rob and possession of a bladed article, and both remain in custody ahead of their Guildford Crown Court appearance on 23 February.
  • The coroner recorded a provisional cause of death as a stab wound to the back of the abdomen and police appealed for information via the Major Incident Public Portal quoting Operation Eastville and reference PR/45260006995.
