Overview
- Coaches reported Monday that Michael Penix Jr. is "hitting every milestone" in his post-ACL rehab but he has not been cleared for full contact team drills.
- Tua Tagovailoa is taking the bulk of first-team 11-on-11 reps while Penix is limited to individual drills and 7-on-7 work with extra 7-on-7 snaps allotted to him.
- Falcons quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt said there is no true head-to-head competition until Penix can be evaluated on the same practice field as Tagovailoa.
- The team views mandatory minicamp (June 16–18) as a near-term checkpoint for clearance and expects training camp in July to be the fallback for a full side-by-side evaluation.
- The roster moves that brought in Tua and extended WR Drake London, plus Kirk Cousins’ departure, raise immediate performance expectations and create pressure for a clear Week 1 starter.
