Overview
- Four men targeted Hombalegowda’s BEL Layout residence around 3:15 pm on February 16 while he was at home with his wife.
- Two imposters claimed to be from Yelahanka Police, with one in a Sub-Inspector’s uniform and others using a diary and a police-style bag, as two accomplices kept watch outside.
- The intruders threatened the couple with a gun and a knife, bound them with tape, ransacked a bedroom, and stole about ₹20 lakh and nearly half a kilogram of gold jewellery.
- According to the complaint, the gang also seized the couple’s mobile phones and removed the home’s CCTV DVR before fleeing.
- Police registered a case and the commissioner ordered immediate action, with two special teams analysing area footage to identify the suspects; no arrests have been announced.
