Fake Police Rob Bengaluru Realtor of Cash and Gold as Manhunt Begins

Police formed two special teams to review CCTV to trace four suspects who posed as officers to enter the BEL Layout home.

  • Four men targeted Hombalegowda’s BEL Layout residence around 3:15 pm on February 16 while he was at home with his wife.
  • Two imposters claimed to be from Yelahanka Police, with one in a Sub-Inspector’s uniform and others using a diary and a police-style bag, as two accomplices kept watch outside.
  • The intruders threatened the couple with a gun and a knife, bound them with tape, ransacked a bedroom, and stole about ₹20 lakh and nearly half a kilogram of gold jewellery.
  • According to the complaint, the gang also seized the couple’s mobile phones and removed the home’s CCTV DVR before fleeing.
  • Police registered a case and the commissioner ordered immediate action, with two special teams analysing area footage to identify the suspects; no arrests have been announced.
