Fairfield Snowplow Driver Charged After Home Crash Following Cocaine Admission

Officers documented impairment signs, including a collapse that led to a Narcan dose.

Overview

  • Police identify the driver as Mark Paul Keene, 46, who crashed a plow on Dec. 28 around 7:15 a.m. near Glen Ridge Road and Tahmore Drive, damaging a porch and pushing a parked car into a garage door.
  • A warrant and court documents describe slurred speech and pinpoint pupils before Keene collapsed, foamed at the mouth and turned blue, prompting an officer to administer Narcan.
  • Prosecutors say Keene later stated he "did three bumps of cocaine" and did not recall the incident, with a warrant citing toxicology results showing cocaine, benzodiazepines and cannabinoids.
  • Keene was taken into custody on Jan. 8 and is charged with operating under the influence and reckless driving; he posted a $15,000 bond and the case was continued to Feb. 25.
  • Weeks after the crash, reporters observed the home’s porch still in disrepair and the garage covered by plywood.
