Overview
- Facebook mobile apps now support passkey login using fingerprint, face scan or PIN instead of traditional passwords.
- Passkeys protect accounts from phishing and password spraying by using unique, device-stored credentials that Meta cannot access.
- Users can enable and manage passkeys through the Accounts Center in Facebook settings and fall back on passwords on unsupported devices.
- The same passkey will extend to Messenger in the coming months and secure encrypted message backups at launch.
- Passkeys also power secure autofill of payment information in Meta Pay without transmitting biometric or cryptographic data to Meta.
