- The FA charged Tonda Eckert on Wednesday, July 22 with three breaches of Rule E3.1 alleging he directed or authorised observations of Oxford United, Ipswich Town and Middlesbrough training sessions.
- The charges follow EFL action that expelled Southampton from the Championship play-off final in May and imposed a four-point deduction for the 2026–27 season.
- An independent EFL arbitration panel found the spying was a ‘contrived and determined plan from the top down’ and said junior analysts felt pressured to carry out the observations.
