- On Monday June 29 the court sentenced David Drury to nine years and Daniel Sellers to four and a half years, gave both restraining and sexual harm prevention orders, and ordered indefinite registration on the sex offenders register.
- Both men pleaded guilty in May to charges including sexual assault, distribution of indecent images and offences to facilitate a child sex crime, which formed the basis for sentencing.
- The investigation began after a third party and Gwent Police raised concerns about online purchases of indecent images, leading to arrests in July 2024 and seizure of electronic devices for forensic examination.
- Prosecutors told court that officers found 28 indecent images of the victim including six videos, with three classified as Category A, and that Drury had distributed images of other children.
- The case has drawn public scrutiny because Drury was head of corporate communications at Humberside Police and Sellers was a head of drama at a local school, police praised the victim’s bravery, and a separate reported allegation about Drury’s media conduct in 2021 remains unconnected to these convictions.
