Ex-Pataudi Councillor, Aide Booked After Woman Alleges Repeated Rape During Dowry Mediation

Gurugram police registered a case naming former Pataudi councillor Zahid and his associate Sonu after a 30-year-old woman reported repeated sexual assaults.
The woman says the abuse began in October 2024 at a Helimandi hotel and continued at other Pataudi hotels after the men offered to reconcile her dowry dispute with her estranged husband.
She alleges the pair raped her again on February 17 at Zahid's home and that Zahid and his wife beat her in a market when she tried to report the crime.
Investigators filed an FIR under India's new criminal code for gang rape and criminal intimidation, completed her medical exam, and recorded her statement before a magistrate.
Police say they are collecting CCTV footage and call records and indicate arrests could follow as they examine evidence and witness accounts.
