Ex-Model Álvaro Jacomossi Held in Preventive Custody in Florianópolis Drug-Trafficking Probe

Overview

• The former international model was arrested after 11 days on the run and was taken into custody in Florianópolis on Feb. 21.
• Investigators from the Delegacia de Combate às Drogas allege he supplied narcotics at high-end parties on the east side of the island.
• He initially escaped the Feb. 10 operation by jumping from a pousada window at Praia da Joaquina and hiding in nearby vegetation.
• Police say they monitored him on the day of the arrest, spotted him on the beach with his partner, and subdued him after he resisted.
• A court issued a preventive-arrest warrant following the escape, he remains at the disposal of the judiciary, and evidence from the raid including drugs, a firearm, ammunition and a phone is under review.
