Overview
- Moore, who was sentenced Tuesday by Judge J. Cedric Simpson in Washtenaw County, received 18 months of probation and about $1,000 in fines with no additional jail time.
- Under the sentence, he must continue mental-health treatment, submit to drug and alcohol testing, avoid firearms, and have no contact with former assistant Paige Shiver, with the judge warning any violation could lead to jail.
- In March, Moore pleaded no contest to malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespass, and prosecutors dismissed earlier counts including felony home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering.
- Prosecutors say the case stems from Dec. 10, 2025, when Moore went to Shiver’s apartment hours after he was fired for an inappropriate workplace relationship, entered uninvited, handled kitchen knives, and threatened self-harm before his arrest.
- Shiver said the punishment “does not reflect the harm,” as the University of Michigan’s outside review of its athletic department continues and her lawyers signal potential civil claims against Moore and possibly the school.
