Overview
- Aylesbury Crown Court sentenced Gwyn Samuels, formerly known as James Bubb, after convictions for raping a child under 13 and other sex offences, as well as raping an adult met online.
- The offences occurred between January 2018 and April 2024 in London and Buckinghamshire, beginning with online contact via platforms including Omegle and Kik.
- Judge Jonathan Cooper also imposed a lifelong sexual harm prevention order and described the offending as an abuse of intimate trust marked by inherent brutality.
- Investigators said Samuels used special constable status to intimidate victims and employed officer safety techniques and restraint during the abuse.
- The Metropolitan Police suspended Samuels on April 30, 2024, dismissed the volunteer without notice after conviction, placed the offender on the College of Policing barred list, and the judge said custody remains in the male prison estate under current policy as police keep an open mind about further victims.
