Overview
- A Webb County jury found Adriana Rullan guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and sentenced her to 33 years in prison.
- Jurors also convicted Rullan of indecency with a child by sexual contact and of an improper educator-student relationship and ordered $20,000 in fines, with all prison terms to run concurrently.
- Prosecutors presented text messages, photos and video from a forensic examination of the victim’s cellphone during a two-day trial that included testimony from six witnesses and dozens of exhibits.
- At sentencing the victim described lasting harm including loss of friendships and serious depression, and the victim’s mother called Rullan manipulative and blamed her for the family’s emotional trauma.
- The investigation began after the student’s parents contacted United Independent School District police in November 2023, Rullan was arrested in December 2023, and it is not yet publicly reported whether she will appeal.
