Overview
- Remco Evenepoel claimed the Amstel Gold Race with a clean sprint over defending champion Matthias Skjelmose in Valkenburg.
- The race split about 40 km from the finish as Evenepoel, Skjelmose and Romain Grégoire caught long-time leader Marco Frigo on the Cauberg circuit before the Belgian and the Dane rode clear for a two-man finish.
- Benoît Cosnefroy took third at 1:59, and Frigo placed 10th as the top Italian after spending much of the day in the break.
- With Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel absent, the pre-race favorite Evenepoel converted the spotlight into a marquee victory.
- The result, reported as the 74th win of his career, sets up a high-profile Ardennes week as he targets Liège–Bastogne–Liège and weighs a start at La Flèche Wallonne.
