Overview
- The European Commission disbursed €3.3 billion on Friday to help Ukraine buy missiles and drones under the EUR 90 billion Ukraine Support Loan.
- Commission officials said this is the fourth defence-window payment and that defence-related transfers in 2026 now total about €11.7 billion, with nearly €15 billion sent to Ukraine this year across defence and other support.
- The Commission signalled it is ready to use remaining SAFE instrument funds to launch a joint EU‑Ukraine air and missile defence programme based on the Freya anti‑ballistic project.
- Payments for Patriot interceptor missiles remain on hold because Kyiv has not submitted the signed contracts and product schedules the Commission requires before it can disburse funds for those interceptors.
