Overview
- The European Union has awarded 75 fully funded Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree scholarships for the 2026–2028 cycle to Indian students, covering tuition, living costs and travel.
- The Delegation of the European Union to India held a pre-departure ceremony in New Delhi for the selected scholars with EU member‑state representatives, alumni and education stakeholders.
- The EU also launched an EU‑India Student Ambassadors’ Network of 40 ambassadors drawn from 20 universities across 14 states and union territories to promote European study and research opportunities in India.
- Recipients will study in at least two countries within consortia spanning 15 European nations, enrolling in programmes that include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, vaccinology, urban development, gender studies and the humanities.
- The awards build on a long record of India‑EU mobility: India has been the top Erasmus Mundus beneficiary since 2004 and Erasmus+ has granted over 7,500 scholarships and more than 2,500 joint master’s degrees to Indian nationals, strengthening people‑to‑people links and research cooperation.
