Overview

  • The duo announced the digital album release on Aug. 13 and opened pre-orders while releasing a new single, “Witch Doctor,” ahead of the Aug. 28 date.
  • “Witch Doctor” is available now and follows earlier previews including “Next To You” and the Amazon Music exclusive “Echos 19 (mix 122).”
  • The record was co-produced over roughly 18 months in Dallas and Los Angeles with Badu reworking The Alchemist’s instrumentals by adding kalimba, layered chords and live drums.
  • Streaming and Bandcamp listings currently show the project untitled with about 16–17 mostly unnamed tracks, and a full tracklist and cover art have not yet been published.
  • A North American tour begins Sept. 10 with later UK and European dates, and the release marks Badu’s first major full-length project in over a decade while spotlighting The Alchemist’s continued prolific output.
