Overview
- Martl confirmed late Wednesday that he will no longer stage the Erdinger Frühlingsfest after the 2026 run, saying the event can’t cover rising costs when visitor numbers decline.
- He put initial start-up costs at about €60,000–€80,000 to get the festival running and listed expenses such as water hookups, security, power, staff, insurance and TÜV inspections.
- Ride operators faced steep logistics and setup bills of roughly €15,000–€20,000 per large attraction and one vendor spent about €500,000 to meet a new DIN safety standard.
- Attendance fell sharply after the opening weekend and the traditional Brauchtumsnachmittag was sparsely attended, a shortfall Martl called a “catastrophe” for performers and traders.
- Martl praised Stadt Erding’s cooperation, said he will continue selling his Schokofrüchte at other regional festivals such as the Altstadtfest, and warned the cost structure is straining travelling fair operators.
