Epic Reduces V-Bucks Granted in Fortnite Purchases Starting March 19

The company cites rising operating costs despite recent reports of strong revenue.

Overview

  • Every paid pack will deliver fewer V-Bucks for the same cash price, including $8.99 for 800 (was 1,000), $22.99 for 2,400 (was 2,800), $36.99 for 4,500 (was 5,000), and $89.99 for 12,500 (was 13,500).
  • The standard Battle Pass will cost 800 V-Bucks and award 800 on completion, with the extra 500 V-Bucks in Bonus Rewards removed; the OG Pass drops to 800 and the Music and Lego passes drop to 1,200.
  • Fortnite Crew’s monthly grant falls from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks, which also affects subscribers who access Crew through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
  • The Exact Amount option changes to $0.99 per 50 V-Bucks (from about $0.49), purchases through Epic’s payment system earn 20% back in Epic Rewards, and existing V-Bucks gift cards will redeem at their printed values.
  • Announced March 10 and effective March 19 globally, the move has drawn swift negative reaction as coverage contrasts Epic’s rationale with figures such as $1.16 billion in Epic Games Store spend for 2025 and a $6.21 billion gross revenue estimate.
