Overview
- The Emerson College/PIX11 surveys released May 21 show Lander leading Goldman 57% to 23% in New York’s 10th District with 20% of likely Democratic primary voters undecided.
- The same day MEMRI circulated video of Lander’s May 15 appearance at the Al-Khoei Islamic Center in Queens in which he criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza and an imam led a prayer invoking the Mahdi and language about 'infidels.'
- The Goldman campaign disputed Emerson’s findings and pointed to an earlier Goldman-aligned super PAC poll that showed a much narrower margin, creating competing narratives about who will actually vote in June.
- Emerson’s surveys also found the open-seat contests in NY-07 and NY-12 tightly contested with large undecided blocs, and early voting begins June 13 ahead of the June 23 primary.
- Lander’s strength is concentrated with voters under 40 and is bolstered by endorsements from Mayor Zohran Mamdani and other progressives, a shift that could change turnout patterns and focus the primary debate on U.S. policy toward Israel.
