Emerald AI Raises $150 Million Series A at $1.05 Billion Valuation

The funding will let the startup expand deployments of software that lets AI data centers rapidly cut or shift power to help electricity grids manage rising demand.

Overview

  • Emerald AI announced the oversubscribed Series A on Aug. 25, raising $150 million and bringing its total capital raised to more than $220 million.
  • The company sells software that connects data centers to grid signals and, it says, can reduce demand by up to 40% in under a minute though that performance is currently supported mainly by company trials and demonstrations.
  • The round was co-led by Energize Capital and DCVC and included strategic investors such as JERA Ventures, NVIDIA, and Siemens.
  • Emerald AI plans to use the funds to scale commercial rollouts worldwide and to advance a planned nearly 100 megawatt power‑flexible AI facility in Virginia that targets the dense Northern Virginia market.
  • Analysts warn data centers will drive large electricity demand growth through 2030 and Emerald AI says its approach could free substantial grid capacity, a development that could ease strain for utilities and change how operators buy and price power.
