- Prosecutors say Elijah Zion Bieniemy allegedly shot his mother inside the family home in Ashburn, Virginia, on July 26 and he was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling.
- Mia Bieniemy was treated for multiple gunshot wounds, was moved out of the intensive care unit and is reported to be improving while her husband, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, left training camp to tend to her and is watching practices remotely.
- Public records show Loudoun County deputies responded to multiple calls at the family residence in the two months before the shooting, including a June 1 welfare check and a July 24 call in which a caller said the parents were withholding his firearms and claimed he was a “certified UFC fighter.”
- Elijah remains held in the Loudoun County jail without bond and a judge granted the defense request for a court-ordered mental competency evaluation, pausing preliminary hearings until the evaluation is complete.
