ElevenLabs Licenses Stan Lee’s Voice and Likeness for Its AI Marketplaces

The agreement creates a licensed AI Stan Lee voice for narrated books and commercial licensing while likeness templates will be limited to non-commercial use.

Overview

  • ElevenLabs and Stan Lee Universe have launched a licensed AI model of Stan Lee that will voice a new Book of the Month series in the Eleven Reader app, starting with Treasure Island.
  • The replicated voice was trained on historical professional recordings of Lee and is being offered through ElevenLabs’ Iconic Voice Marketplace for editorial and commercial licensing.
  • Users can generate Lee’s likeness using comic-style templates in ElevenLabs’ Image & Video Marketplace, but the company says those images and videos are restricted to non-commercial use.
  • The partnership follows ElevenLabs’ recent fundraising and expanded celebrity licensing deals and signals stronger commercial productization of posthumous personas by estates and AI firms.
  • The deal aims to extend fan access to Lee’s persona while raising questions about consent, rights clearance, and how estates and platforms will govern paid uses of recreated voices and images.
