Overview
- A contractual electrician, 28-year-old Kuber Chand Sahu, fell about 30 feet beneath a false ceiling in the Security Hold Area near boarding gates 7–8 on Thursday and was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital.
- The Raipur airport authority said Sahu suddenly felt dizzy and unconscious because of extreme heat and then fell while repairing a ceiling light.
- Airport staff gave first aid, moved him by airport ambulance to hospital, notified police, and the airport has opened its own inquiry while investigators examine the scene.
- An airport official told reporters Sahu was not wearing a safety harness or helmet during the repair, and a police accidental-death case is being probed for possible negligence.
- The death highlights workplace safety risks for contractual maintenance workers and could prompt administrative or legal action depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigations and the contractor’s response.
