Overview
- Counter Terrorism Policing North West and Greater Manchester Police raided a property on St James’ Road in Higher Broughton on Tuesday and arrested a 49-year-old man who remains in custody for questioning.
- The man was detained on suspicion of failing to disclose information about terrorist activity under section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000, a charge used in earlier arrests in the probe.
- Authorities confirmed the arrest relates directly to the October 2, 2025 attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in which the attacker Jihad Al-Shamie was shot dead and two worshippers, Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, were killed.
- This brings the total number of people arrested in the wider inquiry to eight, a list that includes a previously charged man, Mohammad Bashir, whose offences were not directly linked to the synagogue attack.
