Eighteen Closures Reshape Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts

Overview

• Eighteen distinct attractions, restaurants, stores and hotel areas are currently closed for a mix of temporary refurbishments and permanent removals that are active construction zones.
• Magic Kingdom has lost several long‑running features to permanent clearance for new projects, including the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and related riverboat operations to make room for a Cars‑inspired expansion.
• Disney is giving key attractions major updates: Carousel of Progress is closed for an extensive overhaul with a planned return in 2027 and other legacy experiences are being removed or reimagined.
• Hollywood Studios and EPCOT are also heavily affected, with parts of Animation Courtyard repurposed and Muppets Courtyard converted for a Monsters, Inc. land, while EPCOT pavilions have staged shop and restroom closures for behind‑the‑scenes work.
• Major resort projects at properties such as Coronado Springs and Bay Lake Tower will run through late 2027, producing hotel-area disruptions, phased reopenings of some venues, and ongoing changes to guest services and circulation.
