Overview
- The EFL published the full 2026/27 fixture list at 12:00 BST on Thursday, June 25, confirming league schedules for the Championship, League One and League Two.
- The Championship opens the weekend of August 14–16 with Wolves v Blackburn at Molineux on Friday night, Burnley v West Ham on Sunday and Cardiff v Wrexham on Monday, while the Carabao Cup first round is scheduled for the weekend of August 7–9 with the draw broadcast live at 16:30 on release day.
- Sky Sports will carry more than 1,000 EFL-related matches this season, will show every EFL club live more than 20 times, and will stream the whole opening Championship weekend on Sky Sports+ with staged TV-selection deadlines beginning July 2 and continuing through the season.
- Round One of the Carabao Cup will include 70 clubs, regionalised into northern and southern sections, with two preliminary winners added because nine Premier League clubs enter European competition.
- Reporting remains inconsistent about a change to the promotion play-off format, and clubs must also plan for a restructured autumn international break that creates congested runs early in the season and could affect travel and squad rotation.
